In our house the kids have chores that they are responsible for. Some of them they do just because they are part of our family. These included making their bed, picking up their things, etc... They also have chores they do each week that they get paid for. They are allowed to use their spending money on what they choose (as long as it doesn't break a family rule). Eli's money was burning a hole in his pocket and he knew just what he wanted, toothpick swords and mini marshmallows. We thought that was a pretty funny choice, but it was his money and he was as thrilled as could be when he got to buy them on the shopping day!

The things kids want. I know Zoela was crazy about marshmallows, that is how we potty trained her. The sword picks work well for lego minifigures also.
