For our 10th anniversary we decided to go on a cruise. We attended a travel presentation a few months back and they gave us a "free" 7 night cruise. Of course free means that you have to pay the port charges, taxes and service fees. Those added up to quite a bit, but still saved us about $500 from booking it online so it was still a pretty good deal and worth sitting through the hour presentation. We were able to pick any cruise that we wanted to we decided to do a Caribbean cruise out of Miami. My fabulous parents graciously volunteered to watch the kids for us for 9 days. They sure are troopers and we are grateful for their sacrifice. We had frequent flier miles for both of our flights, but through two different airlines. So Keith and I flew separately out to Florida, I did get a lot of reading done on the 7 hours flight! Keith got some sleeping in, sadly a little to much sleeping. He left our garment bag with all of our dressy clothes on it on the airplane. By the time he realized it, the bag was already on a flight to New York. It did not come back in time for us to make the cruise, so it had a nice little vacation in the Ft. Lauderdale airport for the week. Keith and I landed in Ft. Lauderdale late Saturday night and checked into the hotel. We decided that if we go on a cruise again we will choose one that has a port closer to home, that way to don't have to spend a whole day on the airplane just to get there and another day on the airplane to get home!
