Wednesday we also headed into San Francisco to see some more sights. The weather was beautiful! Keith really wanted to tour Alcatraz, so we bought the tickets online for the 10:30am boat ride. We got up nice and early to be out of the house by 8:30am. We wanted to make sure we had plenty of time to get out to the pier and find parking. There was definitely a lot more traffic on the route we had to go. So far we had been really fortunate to not see much traffic, well for California that is. The boat ride out to Alcatraz was really fun and the kids had a great time checking out all there was to see. The tour of the island was also really neat. There is so much history and the island itself is really neat. You have a great view of the entire Bay. The kids decided that they definitely do not ever want to go to prison. In fact, they referred to it as the "dungeon". I think the tour might be a great deterrent from making bad choices that result in prison! After we got back on shore, we went and toured the Pampanito which is a decommissioned submarine. We were able to go through the entire submarine, it was amazing to see how much work goes into designing one. We were all very impressed! The kids thought it was fun to go through the small doors that lead to each section. It is some pretty tight quarters, it solidified my belief that I could definitely not be on a submarine! After that, we walked around the piers to check out all the sights, street performers and such. We went to Boudin to get some sourdough bread. They are famous for their bread and they make bread in the shape of bears, turtles and all sorts of neat things. We were sitting there eating and one of the bakers came out and gave sourdough turtles to all of the kids. They were so excited! Next we drove over to the Golden Gate Bridge again. The weather was absolutely beautiful all day so we wanted to check out the bridge again since the day before was so foggy. We walked half way across the bridge and had a beautiful view of the bay and the ocean. Then we drove back to Hilary's to have a final dinner with them. It was fun to visit and spend our remaining time with them. They will be moving in August, so who knows where we will have to visit them next.

These pictures bring back fun memories for me - I'm with you, San Fran is so fun to visit but I wouldn't want to live there! I loved the story of Ella hearing the emergency broadcast! So cute and funny! As aways, love to see the updates! Tell Eli "Happy Belated B-day!"
