Keith has been working an insane amount of hours these past few months. Like waking up at 4:30am or coming home at 1:00am. Finally, a majority of the projects are done and he is back to working his more usual schedule. We decided the whole family needed a getaway. We rounded up Nana and Papa and headed down to White Sands New Mexico. There are miles and miles of white sand dunes to play in. It is really quite neat. We played all day and the kids had a blast! We also camped at the Valley of Fire National Park. They have a neat walking tour you can take through the lava flow and learn all about the history of the area. Everyone had a great time and it was a much needed getaway. In fact we had such a great time we decided it may have to become an annual trip.
We found the steepest dune we could, which was actually pretty steep, and did some sledding. it was such a blast. All the kids loved it. Even Ella got in on the action, she was not afraid at all!

That looks like so much fun, especially the sledding on sand, who would have thought. Those are some pretty intense hours Keith has been putting in. It is amazing what we are able to push ourselves to do under pressure. I don't know if you will be looking at my blog anytime soon but I was amazed that you had served at the Mormon Battalion. You may have mentioned it but it probably didn't click since I had never been there. That was neat to learn that about you.
Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. We aren't that far from White Sands, we'll have to try it sometime. Our friends all say that you bring half the sand home with you, but it sounds like lots of fun.
So fun! You deserved a break!
Wow--crazy schedule Keith! You guys totally deserved this little break! We were so sad not to see you but sorry about the loss. Hope you are all well and safe back home. Let us know the next time you come. Hope to see you soon.
