Star Gazing

Last night, they had a star gazing event at the Open Space Visitor's Center near our home. First, I cannot believe we have not been to the Visitor Center since we moved here, it is amazing. The grounds are so peaceful and they have things for families and children to do. We will definitely be going back there often. The event last night was really fun. They had activities for the kids to do and telescopes set up, as well as a portable planetarium. Saturn was visible so they let everyone see it. There were quite a few people so we decided to go home and view it with our own telescope. We have a nice balcony off of our Master Bedroom with a perfect view of the sky. For our Anniversary, I decided to surprise Keith and get him a telescope. We have always wanted to learn more about astronomy and thought it would be a fun hobby with the kids. We have only used it once since I got it, so we were excited try it out again. It is actually harder than you would think to find something in the sky. This time, thanks to the helpful experts that were there, we saw where to look for Saturn. We got home and were able to see it. It was pretty cool. I am excited to use the telescope more frequently now and hopefully we can attend some events to learn more.

This is what Saturn looked like. So not exactly Hubble telescope quality, but we also do not have a billion dollar budget either! I have to say, it was pretty amazing to see something millions of miles away. Heavenly Father has created some pretty incredible things.
